50 YEARS OF SERVICE

RAINIER COLD STORAGE

THE RCS DIFFERENCE

Providing superior customer service has been our guiding principle for the past 50 years.

During the past 50 years Rainier Cold Storage, Inc. has had three owners. The founding owners sold the company in 1986 to a small group of investors who formed Rainier Ice and Cold Storage, Inc. (RICS). RICS operated three cold storage locations: Georgetown, Port and Market Center.

In 1996, an additional partner (Greg Moore) joined the group of owners and took over the operation of the company.

In 2001, the Georgetown facility was converted to an industrial real estate holding and ceased its cold storage operations.

In 2003, the Port of Seattle did not renew the lease at Terminal 25, known as “Rainier Port”. This left the current site, often referred to as “Rainier Market Center”, as RICS' only remaining cold storage facility.

On January 1, 2006, Greg Moore purchased the “Rainier Market Center” cold storage business and its five acre site from Rainier Ice and Cold Storage, Inc. With this purchase, he formed a new company, Rainier Cold Storage, Inc. Subsequently, RICS has sold the Georgetown facility.
